Affilorama by Mark Ling was started in 2005 and is an internet community which has been devoted to affiliate marketing training.

After many years of great success as a merchant who created products like “Rocket Piano” and “Jamorama”, Mark and his small team branched out to create a stage or platform that would help train his affiliates within the internet marketing niche.

Mark lives with his family and is from New Zealand.

Within the Affilorama Membership, there are several levels and many different products that you can choose from.  There is a very basic entry-level to a more advanced options for more advanced marketers which feature a number of plug-in tools.

Affilorama is a product in the industry that keeps on evolving into a better version of itself, it keeps getting better and better with more and more work (although they do not do a perfect job like the world’s #1 rated affiliate marketing program).

I will be walking you through the program step-by-step along with the many up-sells that Mark Ling offers within this affiliate marketing product.

Pros:  There are quite a good amount of pros about Affilorama, read below…

  • You will gain access to one of the most extensive affiliate marketing communities
  • Step-by-step easy to follow resources which include software applications
  • Free starter option which allows you to delve into the basics without any money paid
  • Flexible payment options for the premium program (three (3) years payment plan)

Cons:  If these cons were not included it would be a much better product…

  • You do not have a connection to Mark directly. Your so-called “support” is handed off to support.
  • If you have a small budget, the prices can become really costly once you start adding the up-sells
  • It is difficult to choose the right program because of too many options to choose from
  • You do not get real value in the basic program when compared to the paid programs

Who Is Affilorama Intended For?

Affilorama has many levels to choose from as mentioned above.  Affilorama is geared towards anyone who knows how to use a computer with an internet connection who wants to make some extra money online, you could be a stay at home mom – or dad, a student etc.

The training range from simple to advanced, which could include how to set up a website to PPC and beyond. You do not need to have previous knowledge about building websites, hosting or any other skills related to marketing.  You will get the training there to cover these topics.

Further Details In The Breakdown Of Affilorama

BASIC: The training in Affilorama starts with a basic program which is a combination of online tools plus videos for you to follow attentively.  Also included are a series of software apps that can be utilized e.g. site rankings and also analysis tools which are a nice touch.

PREMIUM Within the Affilorama premium membership level, additional training as well as interviews with multiple successful internet marketers are included plus a series of boot camp videos to get you rolling and promoting the system.

The premium level also contains some valuable content which was specially designed for the particular niche that you choose. Some additional tools which are included within Affilorama are the AffiloBlueprint which is a blueprint for building profitable affiliate websites, the AffilioJetpack which is actually a customized website hosting and creation package.

Website health check tools are also available just so you will know how well your website is performing.

Is There Support For You Personally From Mark Ling Within Affilorama?

Is There Support For You Personally From Mark Ling Within Affilorama?

Mark Ling

Mr. Mark Ling is an extremely busy entrepreneur.  Affilorama is just one of the system that he created and is not his main focus.  If you are expecting to get a one-on-one coaching with him, you might as well now stop dreaming as this will not happen.

Within all levels of Affilorama, there is support from the members, many of which are non-premium members.  That means that sometimes someone may be there to assist and not all the time you will get direct help when needed.

The forum and message boards within Affilorama allows for all questions, comments, and discussions to be shared within the community.

Mark Ling at times will join in on the discussions.  If you ask him a question within the forum, do not expect a response in a timely manner or in some cases, no reply at all, as I already did point out above, he is a busy entrepreneur.

Further Breakdown Of Pricing

One sure thing you must know before investing in Affilorama is that the system consists of many different product offerings and up-sells.

I personally do not agree with a program if it has tons of up-sells just to boost revenue for its owners.  I believe that when you pay for a product, you should be able to gain access to all that is included.

There is no doubt that the products are of top quality, but still, they are still lower in rank than the world’s #1 ranked program for affiliate marketing education and training. Read below for a full breakdown which I will explain in much detail what’s included in the different products and I will also be outlining the different prices.

AFFILORAMA PREMIUM ($67.00 per month)

Here are the features you get with Affilorama Premium:

  • Monthly web magazine which covers a particular sub-topic of affiliate marketing.
  • New monthly content such as webinars and interviews with super affiliates and web millionaires
  • PLR  articles
  • Web Hosting: (Limited)

Although some of this training is truly excellent, there are some serious “tutoring” flaws in the offering at Affilorama Premium membership that can impact your business in a negative way.

The first flaw is the great emphasis of Link Building within the Blog Boot camp.  In fact, 1 of the 4 boot camp lessons is dedicated to training you about backlinking strategies.  That is 25% of the entire course.

The scary problem is that backlinks have and has continued to get website owners in a lot of trouble these days with GOOGLE and although this strategy used to work in 2012 and before that, it is now leading some people to lose their entire business website and rankings online.

The obsolete misinformation will lead one to failure eventually, and that is something I never want to see happen to anyone.  With Google improving each and every day with their sophisticated updates, more and more websites that put any form of importance on back – linking strategies are being removed from the results in search.  THIS IS A VERY BAD THING.

The second flaw I have with the premium membership package is the pure reality that they are promoting the idea of Private Label Rights (PLR) content being important and worthwhile.  In reality, this is an outdated and wrongly used strategy that will only lead you to a total marketing collapse.

The content is a duplicate content so if you ever consider putting any or all if it on your website, you will eventually lose all possible rankings.  It is also outsourced content which means that the content will not have the same force the content you create will have.  PLR’s used to work back in 2009-2010, but not this year nor in the years to come, using it will negatively damage your business.

Let’s take a closer look at the Affilorama Premium tools…

There are also 15 tools included within the premium membership, some are useful and some that will provide you with irrelevant information.  Eg. There is a Trusted Site Tool which analyzes how your page is ranked within google.

However, this is an outdated metric and in no shape nor form indicates if your site is trusted in google any longer.  It is quite obvious that the tools within Affilorama are not being updated to reflect what is taking place in the affiliate marketing and internet marketing world.

“The Social Snoop” is also a tool that finds social media websites that you can once again, get backlinks to and I mentioned about, this is just not a great idea (unless you want to lose rankings within google.)

It is definitely not good for Search Engine Optimization (or SEO for short) or an online business and has been singled out as an unreliable and irrelevant marketing strategy since late 2012.

This is really troublesome for me as an internet marketer.  I would wish that Mark Ling and his associates would do a bit of updating to their training and tools to reflect the ever evolving state of SEO and the online marketing world.  They are doing much more hard than good in this field if you are thinking of going into online business.

Now let’s take a look at the up-sells within Affilorama

As mentioned earlier, there are several other up-sells that are promoted to you to purchase once you are a premium member.  This is something that I and many others are not a big fan of.  The way how I look at it is that if you are paying for the premium package which cost $67 monthly, you should be able to get full access to all services within the system, that is just my two cents, you be the judge.

And just so you know, there are far more superior services that are available to you as a world-class affiliate marketer for a lot less money.

UP-SELL #1:  AffiloBlueprint 3.0 Membership ($197, then AFTER that $67 per month)

What’s included:

  • 13 Lessons
  • 85 Videos covering niche marketing and research as well as affiliate marketing
  • Free Traffic methods (SEO, PPC)
  • 6 WordPress themes

AffiloBlueprint does not come with any support, so if you are considering additional support, you will need to pay the additional $67 per month.

UP-SELL #2:  AffiloJetpack Membership ($997)

This this the high ticket package that Mr. Ling has developed to help you with the promotions of his services and many products.  These “niche marketing” packages do offer some great information and if you choose to become a member, you are going to gain access to the following:

  1. Choice of 5 Niche Packages (Out of the 10 which are available)
  2. 3 e-books, 3 per niche (intended to get free reports)
  3. Partial access to Affilotheme (which will be discussed further)
  4. Fifteen Newsletter Email Series
  5. Various graphics for each niche that you choose
  6. 20 Private Label Rights Articles (PLR)

With all this, Mark will have a great way to train you how to become his affiliate which equals earning him some more money.  As mentioned before, I really do think that all this should have been included in his membership since he really does have a hidden motive and will benefit from all the hard work that you put in.

With the price for Affilojetpack set at $997, you really need to decide if this will be worthwhile for you as you could gain access to a lot more “better” alternatives in the world for and entire year instead of paying a monthly fee.

UP-SELL #3:  Affilotheme (97)

This is the last major upsell that you will be approached with.  It is a WordPress theme that also comes with training showing you how to properly and efficiently use WordPress.  One of the best thing about this is that it comes with a full year free hosting.  After the one year free hosting, you will be encouraged to join the Affilorama Premium to maintain hosting.

It is clear that Affilorama Premium is just the initial component of the offering inside of this system.  If you were to take them up on all of their offers, you will be looking at spending $2000 for all membership.  This is something that you need to think about prior to getting involved with the training program.

Final Analysis of Affilorama

Affilorama is a great product that offers tools, support, and training.  As you can see above, it is not the best, that is why I have been critical of a few different parts of the system.

Mark Ling and his team at Affilorama are truly one of the legit group of people out there within this industry which is known to many as a total “scam”.

Affilorama will be confusing to a beginner as he or she will not know where to get started because of the sheer number of up-sells and some misinformation and outdated techniques within the training.

This program should be approached with caution and think through thoroughly before you make a decision.  If you do decide to join, I would suggest you start with the very basic premium membership for $67 per month.

It is solely up to you if you want to shell out some more money to the up-sells that Mark offers.

Thanks for this review of an alternate Affiliate Program

I’ve seen one of my friend use this platform & I must agree there’s some difference between that & Wealthy Affiliate. Especially the community, WA offers one of the best ever because you can find help 24/7 anywhere on the site.

The upsells definitely lowers my interest level in any online programs & that is something you don’t see at Wealthy Affiliate.

    Cheers to your progress!

Very in-depth review of the Affilorama program of Mark Ling. Your analysis is so important for people who need to make a decision which way to go to attain online success.

When there are many upsells it means that they are NOT giving you everything you need up front. And that to me is a red flag. I understand there is a difference between a free look and then becoming a premier member. But once signing up for a premier account that should be it. All you need should then be included.
If there is still more to pay to get more training, then we will quickly get the feeling that we are being taken for our hard earned money.

    • Jason says:

Simple as that PJ. That is why my number one recommendation is rated so highly online. They are very transparent and do not do the deceiving tactic of up-selling.

      Thanks for your comment.

  3. Andy says:

Very good analysis of Affilorama – I don’t like upsells at all either, so will always click away when one pops up, so it wouldn’t be for me, just for that reason!

    • Jason says:

I feel the same way when I join a program. I expect full transparency. Apart from that, I think that Affilorama still has great value for newbies to profit from.

      Thanks for your comment Andy.

  4. Stephanie says:

    Hi Jason:

I recently did some research on Affilorama and you are right in that Mark Ling has a number of different projects he is working on so it is not his focus and thus, you cannot contact him. They do have staff however which aim to help, but one thing I do not like is they say right there that it could take up to six hours to get help from support and six hours could be a devastating long time to wait if your need immediate help.

I also dislike all of the upsells that Affilorama has. I agree it is hard to know which program is right for you, but they do have a quiz you can take which will help direct you to the correct program (or upsell)

I am with Wealthy Affiliate and I am pretty happy with them. I do not think any program is perfect, but WA is better than the rest of them out there.

    • Jason says:

      Hi Stephanie,

There are some major differences with Affilorama and Wealthy Affiliate. You pointed out that the support at Affilorama can extend up until six hours. This will not happen at WA as the community is ALWAYS active and many times Kyle or Carson themselves will provide you with the answer to your question in a very short period. All I can say is that there is no comparison to Wealthy Affiliate at the moment, its totally in a class of its own.

  5. John says:

Thanks for this review of Affilorama by Mark Ling!
I have heard of this program before and heard some good things about it and your review confirms those sentiments.
If I had not already found another awesome platform Wealthy Affiliate, to learn the ropes of building an online business, I would consider this program.
The only thing I don’t like about Affilorama is the upsells, something you don’t have to worry about with Wealthy Affiliate 🙂

    • Jason says:

      Hey John,

It is true that Affilorama by Mark Ling is a legitimate program and it has been around for a while now. Mark Ling is a very experienced marketer and he teaches a lot of people to earn money online. The biggest problem that we both agree on is that Affilorama has too many up-sells and can be too burdensome for someone who has a small budget to work with.

It is really up to the individual who is looking for a real opportunity which doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, to choose WEALTHY AFFILIATE which is by far the number one rated system online to make money and have a substantial business.

I am very happy that you have also found WA and is using the knowledge that you accumulated to now have a top website earring you income for the rest of your life. Great job John.

Keep on producing and living the life that you make possible.
